The designer of Roof Barriers has been in the metal fabrication (re: roof gutters, flashings, etc.) business for 32 years. He lives in a very snowy region of British Columbia where roofing problems regularly occur because of snow and ice formation and sliding. This type of accumulation and movement causes a glacier slide affect which can severely damage a structure, both inside and out. Snow sliding from a roof can be extremely hazardous.  Obvious vulnerable victims include decks, roofs, frames, railings, vehicles, hot tubs, interiors and most importantly people below.

The snow retention industry has tried to fashion a workable system to keep snow and ice on the roofs. Many of these designs, however, are problematic in their design, whereupon they cause more damage than they prevent, or they are rendered useless by heavy loads. The Roof Barrier allows for 6000 Lbs / running foot of snow/ice load. Roof Barriers, besides being used as snow/ice barriers, can also be used as safety barriers.

Roof barriers, however, do not sit on the roof, or secure into the roof surface. Therefore, downward weight on the apparatus will not impact or cause issue with the roof; keeping it from damage.

The design has been professionally engineered to the highest standards. Materials are of the highest quality and strength available.  Spacing of cams is determined by pitch and run of the roof. Therefore the size of the barrier can be adjusted to scale the size of the structure; based on engineered specifications.

Installation is simple and can be facilitated by any knowledgeable contractor, roofer or building professional. The general design also allows for the addition of a connected gutter system. There are various accessory options available upon request.

This is a patented design of which the production began in 2010 and is now readily available through this site only.
